Severe weather swept across the Big Country on April 29 and 30, 2025, causing significant damage across multiple counties in Bunton Roofing’s service area. This powerful system brought damaging winds and large hail to towns including Knox City, Munday, Goree, and Aspermont.
Storm Overview
According to radar and storm report data, the two-day event delivered:
Hail as large as 4.5 inches in King County, just north of Aspermont.
Hail sizes ranging from 1 to 1.75 inches near Knox City and Goree in Knox County.
Straight-line wind gusts up to 62 mph in King County and 60 mph in Baylor County, impacting areas including Munday.
The map shows intense hail activity across Kent, Stonewall, King, and Knox counties—where overlapping reports of wind and hail damage have been verified. Areas to the south, including Fisher, Jones, and Nolan counties, were largely spared from the worst damage.
Munday Rebuilding After Storm
The city of Munday took a direct hit from high winds that caused widespread damage to homes and businesses. The community is now in the process of cleanup and recovery. KTXS News reports that local officials are assessing infrastructure damage and working to support affected families.
